Whiteboard is an app, that allows users to collaborate live within a board seamlessly. This experience is powered by Whiteboard ability to insert variety of elements such as inking, sticky notes, images, documents and templates. For this project, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Microsoft Whiteboard product team to establish a visual style for their feature “Templates”. Template goal is to help users get a head start on using Whiteboard for specific activities such as brainstorming, planning, checking on project progress, etc. There are several regions within template feature.
The challenge was to create a cohesive visual system for the template regions that is intuitive, easy to use and inviting.

The main target users of Whiteboard template feature are professionals and corporation. Trying to achieve a clean and intuitive visual style is the goal, but at the same time Whiteboard has a collaborative and approachable personality as an app, which is another value to consider throughout the design exploration.
The final visual interface shows a system that is easily applicable to different shapes of the regions as it grows with content. Collaborative energy of the app is carried on through the usage of variety of colors for sticky notes and through illustrations as thumbnails and within the template itself.
